Les Humanoïdes ont conquis la Terre. Albator s'expatrie alors à bord de l'Atlantis, conçu par son ami Alfred, à la recherche de la planète idéale. Pourchassés par les Humanoïdes, ils rencontrent un homme qui connaît le chemin vers cette planète. Cet homme malade, refusant de lui révéler la route, lui fait promettre de veiller sur Nausica, sa fille qui elle aussi connaît la route en secret...
