Some kids enjoying the echo of Mons Meg.Scotland travel: Edinburgh Castle, Mons Meg, a HUGE cannon, among Europe's oldest surviving medieval bombards. A 22 inch barrel fired a 396 pound ball almost 2 miles, but only 8 to 10 times a day due to the heat generated by the blast. From this pearch, we has fantastic city views, and one view of the cemetery where officers have buried their pets since the 1840's. Then, some kids enjoying the echo of Mons Meg. Dalhousie Castle and Culzean Castle, where we stayed on this trip, each had their own canons, but obviously no where near as large as Mons Meg.
