Moon Gazers

The first time I saw him, I wasn’t sure what to think. Hell, my body was definitely thinking but my mind was completely lost in those dark fathomless eyes that looked directly into mine. His shoulder length black hair was tied back neatly into a ponytail and he wore all black, from his skin tight black t-shirt, black jeans and black snake skin boots. Handsome didn’t even come close to the describing the creature before me. With his square angular face smiling at me, those hard muscled broad shoulders that made him look like a supermodel who worked out daily to those narrow hips and long legs that would make even the most saintly woman have the most vilest of thoughts. Step by step my feet took me closer to him as he reached out one hand towards me. I wanted to think or say something but it was useless. Without a thought, my own hand reached to take the one he offered me and in doing so, I was drawn into the vampire’s embrace.

“Lovely evening…” His dark thick slightly Italian accented voice whispered as his arms wrapped about me. “Lovely…” I whispered back in my own Southern voice. My words were only an echo of his, they weren’t my own. His breath was warm against my neck as he inhaled my scent and I just stood there and allowed him to do as he wished. It was my first encounter with the undead and from that point on, it wasn’t my last. Sharp fangs easily penetrated my flesh but I didn’t flinch, instead a soft moan came from the depths of my throat… I was enjoying this. The sound of him sipping softly and swallowing my life’s precious essence was actually comforting and slightly arousing. How could something so unseemly be so wonderful? When he pulled away, my voice spoke to him, “More…” “No, love.” His voice whispered and his tongue ran over the wound. “Only enough to ease the hunger.” “Don’t go.” I whispered again, without thought. “Don’t leave me.”

He backed off just enough to look into my eyes with his own. “You don’t want someone like me in your life, little one. All I would bring to you is pain.” “I…” his finger silenced me as he laid it on my lips. “You will forget what has happened tonight, love. You simply stopped a moment on your walk to admire the moon’s gentle light.” Then his lips brushed mine before his figure dissipated into a soft black mist, before disappearing all together. My eyes looked up through the darkness to the half moon overhead, only slightly hidden by a few light streams of clouds. For just a moment, I felt light headed, faint if you could call it that and definitely confused but then it slowly came back to me.

Vampire. He had tried to erase that moment from my memory but it had failed. Odd since I had a terrible memory but for some reason I remembered exactly what happened. My fingers came up to touch the place where he had bit my neck and although it was slightly tender, I felt no actual wounds there. Now that my mind was once again my own, I turned to go back home. It was true what they said, ‘Walking in the park at night was a stupid thing to do’, and perhaps now I knew why everyone told me that I shouldn’t do it. Yet, with this strange occurrence, I felt this odd need to do it again.

Thanks. I'm a huge fan of paranormal fiction as well - Mainly vampires but I also like shape shifters like werewolves. I'm working on a series at the moment, have three books done and part of a forth - My goal is ten but that's debatable. Anyhow a few close friends of mine are reading it and love it. However I won't be publishing it until the series is completed because a few times I have to go back and add something to the first few books to make to make the latter ones make sense - If that makes sense... I also have a two individual stories going, one I'll post a sequal to this one, the other I'll publish.
