- Hundreds of teenagers streamed into the United Nations this month for the 6th annual Youth Assembly. Their goal: to erase poverty worldwide âcommunity by community. For 11 teens supported by Children International, it was a journey from poverty to the podium. Karen Galindo, 18, of Honduras, addressed the assembly plenary, sharing her experiences as an "agent of change" in her community. Her fellow CI delegates conducted workshops on community projects. The teen delegates from Children International, a 73-year-old humanitarian organization based in Kansas City, range in age from 12 to 19.
