- Description
- With Navicat Data Modeler, you can create models using existing tables or views in databases. In this tutorial, we will show you how to import existing tables to create a model. First, select "Import from Database" from the "Tools" menu. Click "Manage Connection" button to setup connections. If you want to import tables through ODBC, the first step is to setup an ODBC data source in Windows. In the Control Panel, select “Administrative Tools” and then select “ODBC Data Sources”. If you are using a 64-bit Navicat Data Modeler, please choose “ODBC Data Sources (64-bit)”. Under the “User DSN” tab, add a new data source using the “Microsoft Access Driver” for example. Click the “Select” button to choose the Access file. Close the window when you finish the settings. Then, setup the connection here. In addition, you can import connections that established in other Navicat software to Navicat Data Modeler. Choose "Import Connections from Navicat" from "Manage Connection" and select connections to import. Then, select a connection from the list. In the next step, choose the objects you want to import. Then, click "Start" button to start importing.
