How can you make vids..copyright friendly...??

I've been doing it for a while now, I started somewhere between 02 and 04. I started by using clips off other peoples AMV's. (I find it quite embarrassing actually.)

Every time I try to upload an AMV to Veoh it says it violates the TOS or something. So Im forced to upload my vids to Youtube. I've only been able to upload a few AMVs due to this.... Is their something I can do to avoid this problem?
