Originally they were working on a different Sonic game before it. It would explain why Sonic can't swim and how Amy's look changed in Sonic Adventure. Supposdly there was a part where it showed the 1st time Amy in her classic look told Sonic she loved him. Then Sonic says he won't think about how he feels about it. When Amy asks why he walks away. Then it cuts to Sonic sitting alone on a beach. He says out loud about how he lost his mom in the ocean and washed up on this beach. He says he would never love anyone more than her again and that he'd never learn to swim. Then he says "I'm sorry Amy I can't love you." Watching behind a palm tree heard the whole thing was Amy. It cuts to Amy sitting in the woods where she says, "i wish I were old enough to help Sonic, I want to ease his pain more than anything," Then she seems to fall asleep and cuts to her waking up she had changed into her twelve year old self that is in the newer Sonic stuff." Basically she grows from eight to twelve.

I'm back, sorry about the long wait. My computer got reeaally messed up so I couldn't get the Sonic X episodes off of it, but now I've got the rest of the series on my 8gb flash drive so I'll be uploading the rest. I'm getting into college (next Monday I start classes) so hopefully I'll have all of the episodes up before then because I'm going to be uber busy. At any rate, enjoy :] .
