So here's my problem- one of my best friends has struggled with depression all of her life and was in the hospital once for a month because she had problems with cutting. For a few years now she's been happy as a clam and no problems whatsoever, but recently she's been telling me she feels really sad all the time and antisocial. She just wants to stay in her room and do nothing. I told her maybe some medication or getting therapy would help but she keeps telling me she thinks she can pull through by herself. I'm worried, what should I do?

Shes being stuborn. Therapy sounds better more than anything. Like a situation like this would make her feel better. I know is going to cost money, but theres not much you can really do about it. Like how jay helped his/her friend out. Its not going to work out every time. There is situations like killing their best friend or sister or dad or younger brother or anythign like that. Having to keep being alone is lonely and not sane. People think they truly know a person till they bust something like total killing. Like you hear about school shootings.

well well, seems like something i went through. well it all depends. therapy might sound good and all but sometimes its better to let ppl them selfs figure it out and heal by them selfs. and yea sure there r times when they burst out in total killing frenzy madness just like zonlypeter said. hell i almost went into a killing frenzy my self, but hey i controlled my self and well here i am. still just be by her keep on having good times with her make her happy ya know. but if u start to see something like shes getting into hurting other ppl like killing, then watch out. still it all the depends on the person/s, situation, and how others take it.

thanks guys. I'm pretty sure I'm just gonna keep a close eye on her like you suggested, maybe this will blow over. However I don't think she's going to go off killing anyone lol she's not that kind of person.

The first thing you have to do, is show her that shes a great person. Telling her nice things will raise her confidence, making her realize that she a good person and deserves to be happy in life. Next thing you should do is commence Psychotherapy, This will help alleviate symptoms caused by depression, like sadness, anger, and hopelessness. Next comes natural remedies, with herbal medication it can construct a nice flow of chemicals in your body that may be causing the depression. Last but not least, you must clear the mind, exercise, eat healthy and sleeping well will always boost your mood, making you always feel great. Try also bringing her into societies social system, talking to somone never hurts.

Besides all this great ideas mentioned, making her laugh might be something good. But more importandly, one time that she 'll be calm you should ask her if there 's areason behind all this depression.Someone might be causing it or maybe she 's causing it herself. But something or someone must be hidden behind it.Also, many depressed people(or should I say all of them?)fell, say and strongly believe that they don 't deserve to live and that life sucks. You should prove her wrong. It 's not that hard.Something that might help you convince her is the sentence ''Remeber when we/you...''and continue by telling sth she or you and your friend or your friend and many ither people did sometjing together that was real fun and she told ''That 's life'' or ''Life 's great'' or recal a happy moment of hers.Hope that made sense.^^''Well good luck!Hope this helped!

thanks otaku chan! yeah I'm pretty sure that part of why she has depression is because she has super low self esteem, which is from her mom calling her fat and ugly when she was a little girl. She's struggled with anorexia too, and had a really messed up life. I've been talking to her more about it.

twistedxsoul, I don't even know what's wrong with her mom! But its good because her parents got a divorce a couple years ago and she hardly ever sees her now. Her mom was kinda a druggie and never had time for her kids, except to make them feel bad for some reason.
