Me chaseing Chunsil around the livingroom table.lol...just tease n.I like triad, yukuza, gangster style, action or martial art movies myself.Growing up in New York in a mafia style family you kinda get use to it,so no offense to anybody.
I HAVE TO SAY THERE ARE TWO MOVIES THAT I ADMIRE BOTH ARE THE FINEST DIRECTION NOT ONLY IN ASIAN CINEMA BUT I PLACE THEM ALSO IN THE WORLD CINEMA TOP LIST AS WELL. THEY ARE IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER ..... LUST CAUTION ... DIRECTED BY MR HANG LEE ....AND ...THE CURSE OF THE GOLDEN FLOWER....FOR ITS BEAUTY AND SADNESS
wow thats a tough question I thought crouching tiger hidden dragon had a great story .... Dragon Inn .... and Fallen angels... are my top three. then 2046 ... killbill volume 1/2
I agree with you joewu4u2c...fallen angels and 2046 were extremely good. pretty much any Kar Wai Wong movie i've seen so far has been awesome. i'm still having trouble deciding in my favorite too...although, lust caution is on my "to watch" list. :)
That's a very good question i think that about covers my answer, lol, but really i've recently been watching a lot of asian cinema so i think by far the best i've seen so far would be "The Promise", "Three Kingdoms", "Chococalte", but i really can't think of the best asian movie i've ever watched there are so many if you broke it down and said which old school, mid ninthy's and new school asian movie do you like then i would've listed all of them but the question is just so hard that there is no worthy answer, lol.
oh my...I'm so bad in answering those kind of questions...^^ haven't seen that many non-Korean movies so far, so I can only tell you some Korean ones...
Daisy
My sassy girl (that's simply a classic...cannot believe that there is a remake...)
J.S.A. (don't you agree, Kassie? :P)
Tale of two sisters.... I could go on and on and on^^
by the way, what is the worst movie you ever watched? hehe I'd name any movie directed by Kim Ki-Duk...
i'd have to say the one that sticks out in my mind right now as the most disturbing to me was 'the peter pan formula' but there are definitely a few others that were just so stupid that i wish i hadn't wasted my time. oh, and JSA - good choice namisu. ^o^
Oh I will say the best asian horror film it should have been on my list ofcourse this may be going off topic but it's still asian... suicide circle..suicide club. I only watched once but it freaked me out, what more can you ask for... lust caution also on my to watch list.
Well I'm new to Asian cinema on the whole but I'm really anxious to watch more of it:). A longtime ago I saw a movie that I believe was asian in orgin that I really liked, I'm still trying to get a copy of but can't seem to find it anywhere, it is Merry Christmas Mr.Lawerence. another one I watched that I enjoyed was Last Quarter, and an older one that I'm not sure that it is classified as an asian film but I really enjoyed it was The Lover. I still want to see Moonchild. Judging by these recommendations I'll definitely have to see Lust Caution. I also liked Curse of the Golden Flower, mostly for it's cinematography.
Your Favorite Asian Film...
